Who Are The Real LA Kings?
The LA Lakers have assembled the most talented roster in the NBA yet can barely play five hundred basketball because they are not placed in the right positions. Antwan Jamison a Two time all star and former sixth man is on the team but he rarely gets the ball. It’s not all on Steve Nash; D’antoni should run his offense through Kobe Bryant as well. The Lakers are 8 and 3 with Kobe having more than five assists. Kobe is one of the games greatest scorers but now its time to show the NBA world his whole NBA game. We’ve seen Kobe score 40, 50, 81 if Kobe wants a sixth ring he is going to have to switch his game up. Magic did it…Michael did it, he should learn this from the greatest legends in the game. Kobe and Howard should be the MVP candidates in 2013. They are two of the top ten players in the NBA and they have a team that has made it to the second round of the playoffs already. Also Gasol does not fit with the teams future and they should trade him for a point guard or better talent. For example, Trading Gasol to the Hawks for Jeff Teague, a first rounder, and Anthony Morrow, which could benefit both teams. The Lakers need youth and skill at the point guard position. With Steve Nash still absent they will need to make some quick moves. The Lakers are use to being kings of the league, but right now they are not even Kings of their own town. The LA Clippers are the new Kings of L.A.
The Clippers, being lead by Olympic champion Chris Paul, lead the division and are third in the stacked western conference. While the Lakers are in chaos the Clippers are clicking on all cylinders. The addition of Jamaal Crawford, Matt Barnes, and Grant Hill to the LA Clippers were three great off season moves. Even though Grant is hurt right now, his presence in the lock room will keep the team focused. Crawford, Paul, and Griffin make a dangerous trio of NBA players. Crawford who is very skilled and a former sixth man has dropped 50 points for four different teams! I can’t leave out Caron Butler and DeAndre Jordan who are the heart and soul of the team. Jordan is a young athletic shot blocker and Butler is the sharp shooter, but together with their teammates they are one of the more talented teams in the NBA this season. At anytime it can turn into “Lob City” and with the most athletic front court in the western hemisphere they will take advantage of this opportunity. This year the Clippers are striking fear into their opponent’s hearts and if they peak and come together their season will be magic. LA has made the playoffs before but were seventh or eighth seed material. This year the “Clip Show” has a chance to go to the Finals. Billups and Hill came there to get rings and so did Paul. Things are looking brighter in Clipper land while the Clippers are making their stadium mates look like a small market team. All these moves had to be made and made fast because Paul, who was about to become a free agent, needed to know that the team was focused on a championship.
The Lakers just brought in Big names and All-stars and did not think much about chemistry or teamwork. This team should learn from history that sometimes having the most talent does not allways get you a win. Look at the Patriots for instance; they went 18 and 0 in 2007 but then lost the super bowl, or the Yankees losing to the Diamond backs in the World Series. You have to spread out your talent on the court and let players develop. This is exactly what the Clippers did while adding the pieces they lacked last season. The LA Clipper’s bench is much deeper and happens to have more scorers to take the load off of Chris Paul. Griffin being young just needs to stay healthy and avoid injuries this season. If the Clippers continue their success they will finish the season as the Kings of L.A.
