Lin Returns In Style
ROCKETS ROMP THE KNICKS IN NEW YORK
Jeremy Lin received a warm welcome from the New York Knicks crowd as he was introduced with the starting lineup. However, the cheers for Lin quickly turned into booing as he showed his old city he is worth every penny of his 3 year/$25 million contract. The game started off looking like it was going to be a one-on-one battle of wills between Lin and new NY Knicks point guard Raymond Felton. Felton started the game with a quick long range jumper, and Lin immediately followed suit on the other side with a beautiful backdoor cut of his own. The two were battling all night, and Lin finished the first quarter with 8 points and 3 assists. The Knicks defense could not stop the Rockets from penetrating to the basket as Houston had 52 points in the paint for the night. Jeremy Lin pulled off many of his old moves that the country got used to seeing last year as he put this year’s mediocre performance in his rearview mirror. There have been a lot of questions about whether Lin and James Harden can co-exist, as they both like to have the ball in their hands. But the Rockets put on a great overall team performance and ended the night with a 109-96 victory, thanks in large part to injuries to Carmelo Anthony, Marcus Camby, Rasheed Wallace, and Iman Shumpert of the Knicks. Jeremy Lin finished the night with 22 points and 8 assists. James Harden added 28 points of his own, and Carlos Delfino contributed 16 points off the bench. The Knicks did show some bright spots despite the blowout as Chris Copeland got 29 points while JR Smith added 17 points.
