Gotta hand it to Jackie Chain for figuring out what people want from him and then doing that thing over and over again, and he’s got the versatile production duo Block Beattaz with him this time for an entire mixtape, which is basically what happens when you know exactly what rap fans on the internet want and then give them that exact thing. Jackie Chain and Jhi Ali’s still great “Rollin” shows up on this mixtape with different verses and an expanded and less tense take on Robert Miles’ “Children,” as do a couple other great jams flipped and sampled beautifully by the Block Beattaz. Jackie Chain is great for this stuff—his voice is strong without being intrusive so it becomes less about him as a solo entity and more about how well he works with the Block Beattaz production.
Jackie Chain is a native son to Huntsville, Alabama. Jackie Chain found his love for rap music at an early age, growing up in the trailer parks and listening to his favorite groups such as Eightball and MJG, UGK, 3-6 Mafia and Too Short. As early as 5th grade Jackie Chain had won local talent shows by displaying his unique ability to rap and win over a crowd. The fact that Jackie Chain is half Asian added to his reputation as people began to take notice of his talents. Jackie Chain lived a troubled childhood moving from home to home and state to state after his mother left him at the age of two (to this day he still has not spoken to her or even knows if she is alive and prefers it that way). At age 16 he was kicked out of his fathers house and turned to the streets. Within a month Jackie Chain had a 5 bedroom house with a pool and several cars, all this while still in high school.
Basically, whoever signed off on this project – a street album produced entirely by the mighty Block Beattaz production twosome who sonically got Jackie Chain signed in the first place with pilling anthem “Rollin” – has made the best move possible for the Huntsville rap star’s career as we approach his upcoming I Ain’t Slept In Weeks album. Jackie Chain seamlessly flows over the off the wall samples and hard hitting production of the Block Beattaz, which is a winning formula time and time again on this project.
You may not think that a Asian dude from Alabama would have tight rhymes but you are wrong. Jackie Chain couldn’t be any hotter and he displays that with his debut mixtape, Who Da Mane. Who Da Mane has great production from Block Beattaz in addition to Jackie Chain‘s signature catchy hooks and pure bama flow. If you liked ”Rollin“, the Jackie Chain single with Kid Cudi, then you are definitely going to enjoy this mixtape. Jackie Chain won’t let you down with this one!
