ROCKETS HACK A DWIGHT
LAKERS STRUGGLES CONTINUE
The Lakers are now 3-5 under new head coach Mike D’Antoni. Their most recent obstacle came in Houston against the Rockets last night. The Rockets won 107-105, but the Lakers had their chances to win the game. The Lakers had a 13 point lead in the 4th quarter but gave up too many offensive rebounds and missed too many free throws and eventually lost the lead when Rockets guard Toney Douglas hit a HUGE 3 pointer with two minutes left to go ahead 100-99. The Rockets were able to gain their first lead of the game due in large part to the Hack-a-Dwight strategy. The Rockets kept fouling Dwight Howard during their comeback win, and he only went 5-10 on free throws during that stretch. Kobe Bryant had 39 points in the game but didn’t receive much help. The bench came up huge for the Rockets on a night when James Harden and Jeremy Lin both struggled. Toney Douglas had a season-high 22 points and Rockets forward Greg Smith had a career best 21 points. It will be interesting to see how other teams approach the Hack-a-Dwight strategy the next few games since it also happened in the Lakers’ 113-103 loss to the Magic on Sunday.
