Chance The Rapper “10 Day” Mixtape Download & Stream
Debut mixtape from Chicago’s Chance The Rapper. Originally conceived while on a 10 Day suspension from Jones College Prep Chance The Rapper delivers one of the most anticipated and well rounded independent mixtapes in recent memory. Features production from Chuck Inglish DJ Such N Such, Thomas Foolery, Caleb James, Prince Talent, MC Tree, THEMpeople, Zak “Fox” Jablow, Peter Cottontale and the Blended Babies.
When Chance The Rapper came up with the idea for 10 Day, he was on a week and a half long suspension from his high school in Chicago. Chance had truly cooked up one of the most put together mixtapes ever with features and production from Chuck Inglish, Blended Babies, Nico Segal, Caleb James, Vic Mensa, Sulaiman and more. Chance The Rapper recorded this album over the span of only 10 days but it shows a whole lot more polish than the short timespan would suggest. His lyrics are smart, his delivery is really unique, and the album flows perfectly. “When I recorded #10Day, I had never done a mixtape before…a lot of the songs were two tracks where it was just an instrumental that I took, or someone had sent me a beat,” said Chance while sitting on a back patio in Brooklyn. “With this tape, every song that was made, I was there from when the song was an idea that we were talking about, to the building of all the tracks, to the vocal and the background vocal, to deciding the features. I was just way more involved in the production side of things and making it sound the way I wanted it to sound.”
Chancelor Bennett (born April 16, 1993), better known by his stage name Chance The Rapper, is an American hip hop recording artist from Chicago, Illinois. In 2013, he began to gain recognition following the release of his first two mixtapes. Chance started showing interest in music at a young age, and in his freshman year of high school at Chicago‘s Jones College Prep High School, formed the hip-hop duo Instrumentality with a friend. He mentioned in an interview that fellow Chicago native Kanye West‘s 2004 debut album The College Dropout was the first hip-hop album that he ever purchased and listened to, previously being into soul and jazz.
At Jones College Prep High School, some of his teachers ridiculed his aspirations to become a musician. Following a 10-day suspension in spring 2011 during his senior year, Chance released his first mixtape entitled 10 Day, which has been downloaded over 100,000 times since its release in April 2012 via Datpiff. The mixtape would grab the attention of Forbes magazine, which featured it in the publication’s Cheap Tunes column. Subsequently, fellow American rapper Childish Gambino would ask Chance to join his 2012 tour of America as his opening act. Following the release of 10 Day, Chance continued to release new music and was featured on songs with Childish Gambino, Hoodie Allen and Joey Bada$$.
The project known as 10 Day would evolve over time from a simple act of youthful rebellion to a rapidly growing movement with thousands of followers. Chance garnered more momentum heading into his spring release date by producing and premiering videos for the songs “F You Tahm Bout” and “22 Offs”, both directed by Chicago filmmaker Austin Vesely. The buzz generated from these videos earned Chance a spot on Complex.com’s Top 10 New Chicago Rappers to Watch Out For as well as praise from the article’s author who stated that “Chance’s intricate wordplay, and vibrant sing-songy flow has drawn comparisons to early Eminem! We’re expecting great things from Chance in the future and this is really the perfect introduction to him as an artist. Follow on Twitter @chancetherapper @MedievalBeatz Hip Hop Beats For Sale
