Beyonce Speaks On Her Recent Lip-Synch Scandal
Beyonce does a live peformance of the national anthem just to prove that she can, before explaining why she lip-synched at President Obama’s inauguration.
Beyonce received some criticism after it was revealed that she lip-synched the national anthem at President Obama’s inauguration ceremony. Although many people, including celebrities, put in their opinion about the superstar lip-synching, Beyonce never mentioned a word following the performance. (Or obviously during the performance)
During a recent news conference for her upcoming Superbowl performance, Beyonce took a moment to address the scandal. She began by singing out a live version of the “Star-Spangled Banner,” before ending with “any questions?”
After her spontaneous singing of the national anthem, she took questions from the media regarding the inauguration ceremony. She then explained to her fans why she decided to have her pre-recorded track play as opposed to a live rendition, saying the weather and no proper sound check as reasons for her lip-synching.
“I am a perfectionist, and one thing about me, I practice until my feet bleed. I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television show, and a very very important, emotional show for me; one of my proudest moments. Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking the risk. It was about the President and the Inauguration, and I wanted to make him and my country proud. So I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. I’m very proud of my performance,” Beyonce said.
